Air Purifiers Explained
Air Purifiers Explained :: ozone air purifiers

What Are Ozone Air Purifiers?

Ozone is a gas which manages to attract particles by oxidizing them. Ozone air purifiers work in the same way. Ozone air purifiers are, however, controversial.

Although of course the manufacturers claim that their ozone air purifiers work well and do not offer any risks to the user, this is not universally accepted. And like many things, there is no clear proof one way or the other.

However ozone air purifiers are tainted by the controversy. The argument goes that ozone can be detrimental to human health. This has been studied by the EPA.

It is considered that the inhalation of ozone can be an irritant to people with asthma, and that others can also suffer from excess ozone inhalation from ozone air purifiers, or from other sources for that matter.

The FDA has strict guidelines about the emission of ozone by indoor devices. The EPA also has ozone emission guidelines.

So what do we do?

We won't be adding to the debate. If you want you can read some of the materials from the EPA and the American Lung Association and there is more. The best we can do is alert you to the fact that ozone air purifiers are not universally accepted as safe. Read the materials and make up your own mind. As long as you are aware of this we've done our job.
